Status of Masjid in Islam

Islam is the final religion from the Allah Almighty. It has the solution for the humanity till the Day of Judgment. Every aspect of this religion is complete and comprehensive. When we study Islam every single day, we agree to this fact even more. It does not matter what aspect you study, you feel the balanced solution for humanity, even non-Muslims when did research on Islam and Quran they agreed on the fact that Islam has solution for humanity. When we study the belief system of Islam, we come to know that oneness of Allah Almighty is very basic creed of Islam and with that a Muslim believes that beloved prophet Muhammad صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِه وَسَلَّم is the final prophet of Allah Almighty. Islam teaches us to respect all the prophets.

Islam also emphasizes on the worship of Allah Almighty and specific place for worship of Allah Almighty is Masjid. It is the place where Muslims gather five times a day and offer five mandatory prayers. Other than five time prayers, recitation of the Holy Quran and Aetikaf in the month of Ramzan is also performed in the Masjid.

Reward of Building Masjid:

Worship of Allah Almighty is the purpose of a Muslim in this world as it is mentioned in the blessed Quran. So, the place where we perform the worship of Allah Almighty is the place where we fulfill our purpose of life. Reward of Building a Masjid is mentioned in the holy Quran as well as in the blessed saying of the beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِه وَسَلَّم

In Quran Alkareem Allah Almighty says:

اِنَّمَا یَعۡمُرُ مَسٰجِدَ اللّٰہِ مَنۡ اٰمَنَ بِاللّٰہِ وَ الۡیَوۡمِ الۡاٰخِرِ وَ اَقَامَ الصَّلٰوۃَ وَ اٰتَی الزَّکٰوۃَ وَ لَمۡ یَخۡشَ اِلَّا اللّٰہَ فَعَسٰۤی اُولٰٓئِکَ اَنۡ یَّکُوۡنُوۡا مِنَ الۡمُہۡتَدِیۡنَ

Only those maintain and frequent the Masaajid (Mosques) of Allah, who believe in Allah and the Last Day and keep Salah established and pay Zakaat and fear none except Allah, so it is near that they will be amongst the people of guidance. (Translation of Quran Kanzuleman, surah Tobah, Ayah 18)

In this blessed Ayah, the words “یَعۡمُرُ مَسٰجِدَ اللّٰہِ” have vast meanings and the one who builds a masjid is also included in it. So, the great news of believing in Allah Almighty and other great news are given to this person.

It is also important to learn that getting a Masjid constructed is the way of blessed Ambiya ِ الـصَّلٰوة ُ وَالـسَّلَام because Sayyiduna Dawood عَـلٰى نَبِـيِّـنَا وَ عَـلَيْـهِ الـصَّلٰوة ُ وَالـسَّلَام laid the foundation of Bait-ul-Muqaddas and Sayyiduna Sulayman عَـلٰى نَبِـيِّـنَا وَ عَـلَيْـهِ الـصَّلٰوة ُ وَالـسَّلَام got it completed by jinns. Likewise, Sayyiduna Ibrahim عَـلٰى نَبِـيِّـنَا وَ عَـلَيْـهِ الـصَّلٰوة ُ وَالـسَّلَام constructed Masjid-ul-Haraam and our Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم constructed Masjid Nabawi.

Dear Islamic brothers! Certainly, to build a Masjid, frequenting it, and having love and affection for it is a great privilege, and only fortunate people are blessed with it. May Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ include us as well in these fortunate people. Following are the 8 sayings of the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم regarding the excellence of Masjid.

Masajid are the houses of Allah

Certainly, Masajid are the houses of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ on Earth, and it is a right on the mercy of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ that He عَزَّوَجَلَّ honours the one who beholds (His house). (Mu’jam-e-Kabeer Tabarani, vol. 10, pp. 161, Hadees 10324)

Those who frequent the houses of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ

Certainly, only those, who frequent the houses of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ are Allah-loving people. (Mu’jam-e-Awsat Tabarani, vol. 2, pp. 58, Hadees 2502)

House in Jannah

Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ will make a house in Jannah for the one who will construct Masjid, seeking the pleasure of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ. (Bukhari, vol. 1, pp. 171, Hadees 450)
Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ will make a house in Jannah for the one who will construct a Masjid without showing pretentiousness and without making the intention of telling people. (Tabarani Awsat, vol. 5, pp. 184, Hadees 7005)

Heavenly palace of pearl and ruby

Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ will make a palace of pearl and ruby in Jannah for the one who will construct a Masjid with Halal wealth. (Tabarani Awsat, vol. 4, pp. 17, Hadees 5059)
Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ will make a palace in Jannah for the one who gets a Masjid constructed, whether it is small or big. (Tirmizi, vol. 1, pp. 343, Hadees 319)

Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ sees a person with mercy

When a servant [of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ] makes a Masjid [his] place for Zikr or Salah, Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ sees him with mercy, like the family members of an absent person become happy from him when he returns. (Ibn Majah, vol. 1, pp. 438, Hadees 800)

The people loved by Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ

He who loves Masjid, Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ loves him. (Mu’jam-e-Awsat Tabarani, vol. 4, pp. 400, Hadees 6383)

Dear Brothers! We come to know from these blessed sayings the importance of Masjid and we also learnt that if we build a masjid here in this world Allah Almighty grant us a house in Jannah. We should try to build a masjid and also the masjid minar because it is a sign of Masjid in present era. May Allah Almighty enable us to build a Masjid for His sake and aslo build masjid minar as well. Ameen.
